NOTE: If the weather is bad, Field Day will be held on May 24.
NO SCHOOL: There will be no school for students on May 17. The teachers will be engaged in a professional development day.
Summer School will be offered this coming summer. The dates are June 7 through July 8. If your child is in need of additional academic support, a letter will be mailed to you as an invitation. We hope to serve the needs of approximately 100 GES students. I would like to thank Todd Witzel for volunteering to serve as the Summer School Administrator as well as the teachers who have asked to participate.
Parking Lot: I appreciate all of you who move quickly through the horseshoe in our parking lot. I also want to thank those of you who park and walk your child into the building. This helps! Please continue to watch for little ones moving into the parking lot while you are visiting us!
Lost & Found: Clothing, etc. is piling up again and will be sent to 6Points once school is out.
PTA: I would like to thank Maribeth Privette, our PTA President, Amy Ferran (VP), Stacy McPhail (Treasurer), and Tara Hagar (Secretary) for all of their hard work this year. I may be prejudiced, but I really think that the GES Parent/Teacher Association is the best ever!!! The organization helped with so many projects and their work is not finished! PTA will host the 2nd Annual Camille Besse Ice Cream Social and Book Swap on Thursday, May 6 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you have books to swap, please see your child’s teacher.
I would like to introduce next year’s officers: Maribeth Privette will return as President, Jennifer Hutchinson (VP), Annie Yoder (Secretary), Elise Brown (Treasurer).
Please visit the PTA website via the school district website: www.gunnisonschools.net Go to GES and then click on the PTA button. Thank you to Jennifer Hutchinson for making the PTA website a reality!!
