School Improvements

Gunnison Watershed School District was excited to break ground on construction projects within each of our schools beginning in Summer 2024 with projected completion in mid-2026. Key elements of the project support safety & security, overcrowding, maintenance, and vocational preparedness. Here are the project highlights by school:

Crested Butte Community School

(Construction Start: Mid-2024 - Projected Finish: Mid-2026) 

  • Addition of 12 classrooms, removal of modular classrooms
  • Added cafeteria seating, new folding partition
  • New stage area and music room
  • Separation of elementary admin from secondary school admin

Gunnison High School

(Construction Start: Mid-2024 - Projected Finish: Mid-2025)

  • Secure entrance vestibule
  • Improved GHS kitchen envelope

Pathways

(Construction Start: Mid-2024 - Projected Finish: Mid-2026)

  • Expanded Pathways Center with Culinary Arts program, event space
  • New Healthcare Lab, Outdoor Recreation Program
  • Expanded areas for Construction Sciences, Cosmetology, Architecture

Gunnison Community School

(Construction Start: Mid-2024 - Projected Finish: Mid-2026)

  • Improved entrance security
  • Achievement center renovation
  • Library space renovation, expanded cafeteria capacity
  • Energy efficiency upgrades – exterior envelope and mechanical system
  • Exterior drainage improvements, new turf for athletic fields

Lake School

(Construction Start: Mid-2024 - Projected Finish: Mid-2026)

  • Entry vestibule security improvements
  • Improved vehicular and pedestrian circulation via upgrades to the parking lot and student drop-off
  • Safer playground surface, new shade structure and playground equipment
